Preschool
After two years of research and study, followed by a year of
successfully piloting preschools at both Bellevue and Carey
Elementary Schools, the Blaine County School District Board of
Trustees unanimously approved the expansion of preschools to all
District elementary schools.
Beginning with the 2007-2008 school year, preschool for
four-year old children will be provided on a fee basis at
each elementary school: Carey, Bellevue, Hailey, Hemingway and Woodside.
Partnership
Hemingway Elementary School, through an innovative and exciting collaboration between the
School District and the Wood River Community YMCA, is offering
our families a complete early childhood program, including:
- Preschool
- Day Care
- After School Care
All these services will be provided by the Wood River Community
YMCA at the Hemingway Elementary Campus. For more information
please contact the YMCA at 208-727-9622, or visit their website at
http://www.woodriverymca.org/childCare.php.
Mission
The mission of the Blaine County School District and the Wood River Community YMCA Preschool Programs is to enhance the child’s social, emotional,
physical and intellectual growth by involvement in developmentally appropriate learning experiences that
will build a positive self-concept and provide a base for future learning success.
We Believe ...
Parents are the child’s first teacher. We believe it is the joint
responsibility between home and school to guide children’s intellectual,
physical, social, and emotional development. A safe, nurturing, and
respectful environment is necessary to address different cultures, learning
styles, strengths, needs, and developmental rates. Early school experiences
should include opportunities for active exploration, creativity, and discovery
through a multisensory approach. Children participating in the Blaine County
Preschools will gain independence, knowledge, problem-solving skills, and a
broader understanding of the world around them.
