Innovative Technology Grants kidcomputing

The School District strives to provide innovative and effective technical resources, tools, and support to its students and staff.  The goal is to create and equip a collaborative learning community that can work on many levels, from help with the basics to sophisticated academic programs.  The District also has to properly assess its students and comply with testing and reporting requirements.

Overall Responsibilities:  The Technology Department supplies and maintains the hardware, networks, databases, telecommunication systems, and testing resources that enable the schools to function as progressive learning environments.  The Technology Department is responsible for regulating access and maintaining account and data security.  Its directors coordinate technical education for District staff and oversee testing procedures and data compilation.

Equipment:  Each school has at least one computer lab and portable carts for laptops, Chromebooks and/or iPads.  Effort is made to equip every classroom in accordance with the teacher's needs.  That includes a large number of enhanced technology classrooms with interactive Promethean boards or BrightLink projectors.

Software Support and Online Learning:  Software applications are carefully chosen to benefit the learning community.  Older students take online courses through the Idaho Distance Learning Network and are able to earn dual credit through the College of Southern Idaho.  New web-based educational networks help to assess student needs and improve math and reading skills.  Interactive learning devices enliven the classroom.  School libraries have a management system to keep track of their resources and share them with others.

Skyward Access and Web Site:  We welcome parents and authorized family members to view student attendance records, schedules, discipline issues, grades, assignments and progress reports through Skyward family access.  The District also reaches out to the community through its web site.

The District's technology program will continue to evolve to best serve the learning community.
