Thank You to Our Community Emergency Personnel

Thursday, October 28, 2010

Tuesday, October 26th, was an extremely painful day for all of us who love children and serve them.  As you know, we lost one of our own in a very tragic car accident while one other student and a teacher were badly injured.  Immediately on the scene that terrible morning were police and 30 emergency responders from Wood River and Carey.

On behalf of the school district and our entire school community, I wish to express my deepest gratitude to all of you who were there that morning providing assistance.  Thank you.  We are so very grateful.

Dr. Lonnie Barber
Superintendent, Blaine County School District

Tragic Accident

Tuesday, October 26, 2010

I am so saddened to have to report to you that early this morning there was a tragic accident involving a Blaine County School District driver's education vehicle from Carey. Two Sophomore students from Carey High School were in the car with their driving instructor, a teacher at Carey. It is with great grief that I must inform you that one of our students in the driver's training car was killed as a result of injuries suffered in the crash. The second student was life flighted to St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical center. She has suffered a broken hip but is reported in good condition. The driver's training instructor was taken to Wood River St. Luke's and then life flighted to St. Alphonsus hospital in Boise with internal injuries. We are all in great pain today and are praying for the safe recovery of both of our Blaine County School's family. I will keep you informed of any new developments.

Thank you,
Dr. Lonnie Barber

They learned that now is the time for families to review fire escape routes and replace batteries in smoke alarms. Be prepared for fire emergencies. Pictured here are Dual Immersion Kindergarteners and First Graders, just some of the many classes to benefit from this fire safety presentation.
