Annual Public Budget Process Underway

On Wednesday, June 8, at 5:30 p.m. at the Blaine County School District office, 118 W. Bullion, Hailey, the School Board will hold a budget workshop designed to help the board understand the budget. The public is welcome to attend. The School Board is scheduled to consider approval of the budget on Tuesday, June 14 at 6:00 p.m.

What is the taxpayer return on investment for public education? On Tuesday, May 10, the Blaine County School Board will consider approving the 2011/12 Master Agreement, which will include a 2% cost of living increase for teachers and staff. The Blaine County School District appreciates the support of Blaine County voters and taxpayers. It comes at a time when the local economy is still suffering, and some may wonder about the social and fiscal return on taxpayer investment...

The BCSD and the BCEA entered the final day of negotiations on Tuesday, May 3, 2011. The two teams finalized the terms of the 2011-2012 Master Agreement. This tentative agreement awaits ratification by the Association membership and approval by the Blaine County School Board.

As required by the new Idaho Code the certified BCEA membership ratification vote must be made in public. An informational meeting will begin at 4:00 p.m. and is closed to the public. A vote to ratify the master agreement and the counting of the votes will be open to the public and will be held immediately following the closed meeting.

Please join us this Wednesday, May 4th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm in the WRMS multipurpose room for a follow-up from our February meeting. If you were unable to attend the February parent meeting, you may want to familiarize yourself with the information presented prior to the Wednesday meeting, as the background information will aid in understanding.
