Board of Trustees Approves After-Labor Day Start of School

Last night the Board of Trustees approved an after-Labor Day start of school. The decision was based on approximately 100 comments received by staff, parents and community members. Exact days of professional development, early release, vacation, and end date of school will be determined at the Tuesday, March 13 Board of Trustees meeting. The Board of Trustees is charged with deciding the school year calendar. Last year the Board of Trustees approved a one-year school calendar, starting school after Labor Day. The Board of Trustees has many factors and stakeholders to consider when looking at a school calendar. Parents and community members will have an opportunity to voice their opinion through public comment at the Board of Trustees meetings in February and through emails or letters to the Board.
