Blaine County School District Questions McKinstry Essention, Inc.

Blaine County School District representatives are questioning the Energy Service Company (ESCO) McKinstry Essention, Inc. regarding recent renovations at Blaine County schools. The discrepancy concerns the price to be paid to McKinstry. In an unusual turn of events, the District and McKinstry filed nearly simultaneous actions against each other in Blaine County District Court on the morning of May 15. Blaine County School District and Blaine County Education Association Reach Tentative Agreement
“After two days of positive and productive negotiations, the negotiation team from the Blaine County Education Association and the Blaine County School District reached a tentative agreement,” announced Blaine County School District Board of Trustee Chair Steve Guthrie.
The terms of that agreement will be finalized after ratification. The ratification process includes a vote by the certified members of the Blaine County Education Association and a separate vote by the Blaine County School Board of Trustees. After the ratification, all negotiated items will be released to the public.
“Until ratification, there is no valid contract to share with the public. We expect ratification to occur early next week,” said Dr. Lonnie Barber, Superintendent.

The Negotiation Team negotiated on Monday, May 7, 2012. The tentative 2012-2013 Master Agreement awaits finalized language and approval from the Negotiation Team. This is followed by ratification by the Association membership and approval by the Blaine County School Board of Trustees.

The Blaine County School District and the Blaine County Education Association began contract negotiations on Friday, May 4. Representing the BCSD were Chairman Steve Guthrie, Dr. Lonnie Barber, John Blackman, Fritz Peters, Mike Chatterton and Pete Jurovich. Representing the BCEA were Tryntje Van Slyke, Maritt Wolfrom, Kari Haugen, Brian Sturges, Brenda Southwick and Kim Laragan-Uranga. Joni Cashman and Marsha Azorsky are the facilitators for the negotiations. Both were trained in Interest-Based Bargaining. The meetings are open to the public and held in the BCSD District Office board room located at 118 W. Bullion, Hailey, Idaho.
The negotiating team agreed that their decision-making will be based on the following standards...
