Dr. Kathleen Budge Returns to Boise State University

Thursday, April 25, 2013

Dr. Kathleen Budge, Director of Curriculum, is leaving the Blaine County School District in June.  She is engaged to be married and will resume her teaching position at Boise State University. Dr. Budge wrote, “Last October when I joined the Blaine County team, I fully intended to make the move permanent. This was not an easy decision. It is too often easy to be insulated from the realities of public school leadership at the university. This year has been a reminder of the complexity, as well as the nobility, of the work teachers and administrators each do. This is an excellent school district and a wonderful place to live. I have enjoyed the privilege of working with the Blaine County School District and will miss the staff greatly.”

Dr. Lonnie Barber, Superintendent, wrote, “Dr. Budge has contributed significantly in the last year.  She laid the ground work for many areas of student learning that will benefit students and teachers in the future. We are sorry to see her go but look forward to maintaining contact as she returns to Boise State University.  I wish her the best of luck in the future.”

Thank You

Friday, April 19, 2013

The WRHS bomb threat on Thursday, April 18th was an unfortunate event that disrupted the school day and the work of many professionals both inside and outside of the school setting. We are pleased that the student who called the bomb threat into the WRHS main office is in custody and that the student admitted it was a hoax.

The Blaine County School District would like to thank and acknowledge the quick and professional response of the Hailey Police Department, the Blaine County Sheriff's office, Hailey Fire Department, and Idaho State Police. We would also like to thank the staff for quickly evacuating students while keeping them calm and safe, our Community Campus partners for assisting with logistics and communication, and our parents who quickly responded to text alert and Skyalert by picking up their children from the Community Campus. Thank you also to KECH radio and the Idaho Mountain Express for helping us get the word out to the community.
