RSS Feeds
One
more way to stay in touch with BCSD
What is RSS?
RSS or Rich Site Syndication (also 'Really Simple
Syndication') feeds are free content from websites that
contain headlines, summaries, and links to the full page on
the Web site.
How do I use RSS?
Special news readers, called 'news aggregators' are required for
you to be able to use RSS feeds. BCSD does not endorse a
particular reader, you can locate RSS readers via web search
engines such as
Google or
Yahoo. There are also several reviews of the various news
aggregators available.
Why use RSS?
RSS is an easy way to gather a wide variety of content in one
place on your computer. Rather than having to visit many Web
sites to find out if there is new content, the RSS aggregator
shows it all to you in one screen. Many RSS readers also 'alert'
you when new content from your favorite Web site is delivered.
Basically, you can "subscribe" to our "Feeds" or "Channels" and
each time a new downloadable item is published to that "Channel"
by BCSD, your computer will download that item and you can then
access that page or file at your convenience.
How can I sign up for RSS feeds from the Blaine
County School District?
You can add one of our RSS feeds to:
- An email program (such as Microsoft Outlook or Apple
Mail)
- A newsreader (like the free
Feed Demon reader for Microsoft Windows or
NetNews Wire for Macintosh.)
- Your web browser (Internet Explorer 7 or Firefox)
