Patrons Invited to Apply for Instructional Materials Adoption Taskforces

Residents of the Blaine County School District community are encouraged to apply to participate in the Instructional Materials Adoption process for the Blaine County School District. Two separate taskforces will select instructional materials for the World Languages and Language Arts curriculums, respectively. The deadline to apply is January 31.

In the 2012-13 school year, one taskforce will select instructional materials for the World Languages curriculum (Grades 6-12). Residents serving on this taskforce must be willing to make a one-year commitment.

In the 2012-13 and 2013-14 school years, the selection of instructional materials in Language Arts will occur. Participation on the Language Arts taskforce requires residents to make a two-year commitment. Both taskforces meet monthly (January-June) for two hours from 3:45-5:45 p.m. at the District office in Hailey. Two to four additional meetings to screen materials and hear from publishers will be scheduled from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (dates to be determined).

Blaine County residents should complete the Parent/Community Member Expression of Interest Form available at www.blaineschools.org if they would like to be considered for service on either taskforce. The applications for both taskforces are due by January 31.

Director of Curriculum, Teaching and Instruction, Dr. Kathleen Budge says, “Parent and community involvement is key to student success. The mission of the BCSD is to become a world-class, student focused community of teaching and learning. We appreciate the public’s willingness to commit the time, resources and energy to the instructional materials adoption process.”
