Welcome to First Grade

Our Mission: To challenge each and every child at their
level of development.
First Grade teachers at Bellevue Elementary value camaraderie,
teamwork, and innovation. Our highest priority is the
development of the whole child. We nurture student progress by
focusing on academic, emotional, and social success. First
Grade curriculum engages students in Reading Writing,
Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science. In addition, we offer
special enrichment courses in Music, Art, Physical Education ,
and Technology classes at Bellevue Elementary. Students attend
these "special classes" weekly along with computer training and
instructive Library skills. We incorporate a Tribes Leaning
Community process which enables students to build a sense of
community in large and small group activities. The Tribes
process establishes a caring, trusting environment for
cooperative learning and promotes mutual respect, active
listening, appreciation and participation.

Two of our four First Grade classrooms house our Dual Immersion program
here at Bellevue that provide an opportunity for students to
study academics in Spanish as well as English. This program
opens the door to other cultures and helps students understand
and appreciate people from other countries.
We believe parent involvement in school is key to the success of
our students and welcome parent volunteers to participate in our
classrooms and assist on our field trips.
The First Grade classes work closely together, and gather
monthly as a whole group where we review, learn, and perform as
a whole team.
