Bellevue Elementary students access the math curriculum through active engagement in:

  • an articulated scope and sequence of learning activities that create seamless transitions between grade levels
  • a balanced instructional program of content and process that follows an aligned curriculum based on state standards
  • the progression of  concrete,  to symbolic, to abstract applications through instructional pedagogy using

*teacher directed instruction

* lessons that use scaffolding and differentiated instruction to reach proximal development and learning styles

* a variety of whole and leveled small instructional groups

* a variety of math tools including technology

* math stations and exploratory activities

* inquiry based -cognitive guided instruction: student collaboration to explain thinking and deepen understanding, active listening and mutual respect, questioning for understanding

* integration of content/skills across subjects

* project-based learning
