Tech Night A Hugh Success!

Hailey students and their families participated in our school district’s 1st TECH Night on April 30, 2008 at Wood River Middle School. Our tech night hosted about 600 people of all ages. Students and their families listened to Tony Leavitt, NASA space educator about the space program, and Kevin Young, from the INL, presented energy transfer. Booths were set up around the gymnasium, lunch room, hallways and WRMS Technology Room with activities. We offered flight training with retired fighter pilot, Brian Williams, spaghetti and marshmallow structure testing, paper airplanes, paper rockets, catapults, parachute building, straw rockets, rocket cars, sailboats, robot agility race, and sink and float contests. The booths were manned by Ketchum, Hailey, Woodside and Bellevue teachers and parents, and our special guest speakers.

Cheerio! Anyone for a cup of tea?
Cheerio, pip-pip and at that nonsense—ah the British. How did America first come to be? Well, Mrs. Sennes’s class has been studying the establishment of the first American colonies, the making of the 13 colonies and the events that led up to the American Revolution. We decided to become British for an afternoon and have ourselves a little tea party. We had to understand what all the fuss over tea was all about. At any rate we decided that tea needed to be drank with, of course, a little sugar and cream, and a crumpet or two doesn’t hurt either.

World of Wonder!
Hailey Elementary School celebrated May day with an amazing performance by Leland Faulkner. Leland Faulkner was sponsored by the Sun Valley Center for the Arts and is part of their mission of provoking and stimulating hearts and minds through diverse arts programming

Leland's performance was a theatrical feast of pantomime and shadow puppets. The gymnasium was filled with oohs and aahs as Faulkner mesmerized 440 students with his hour-long performance. His show called the "World of Wonder" was indeed that...an enthralling and amazing blend of acting, humor, magic, and a celebration of cultures that transported our audience of students, as well as faculty. It was indeed a well deserved release from a three-week battery of ISAT testing.
Our sincere thanks to the Sun Valley Center for the Arts for their constant support of Arts Programming in Blaine County Schools.
