Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year! We invite you to join us
on your child's journey for 3d grade. Our year is very unique in
that we participate in math chains and language links. Each
child is given the opportunity to progress at his pace in a
group with children that have similar needs. Third graders also
learn cursive writing, multiplication, and division. We are
looking forward to studying biographies and animal habitats in
our area through Project Based Learning. Our days are very busy
and here is an example of what a typical day looks like:

The
Leader In Me
Beginning
in the fall, Hailey Elementary School staff and students will be
learning and practicing the "habits" that are taught in The
Leader In Me program. The Leader In Me lessons teach personal
leadership skills. The Activities that we will do this year will
help them learn practical character and life skills that will
help them become leaders of their own destiny. To learn more
about this program you can go to the "Parent's Place" at
www.TheLeaderInMe.org
Homework

Each day your child will bring home a homework folder. Inside
will be a reading log sheet. In order to see adequate reading
growth, your child needs to read for at least 20 minuets
nightly. Please sign the log sheet. Spelling words and a
spelling contract will come home in this folder on Mondays. The
contract is a list of activities for your child to choose from
to help with learning the spelling words. The contract is due on
Friday and the spelling test will be on Friday. Occasionally
your child will bring home an assignment from another subject
area to work on. We will do our best to keep the homework to a
minimum with a focus on quality not quantity.

Kids" link on the website
