Welcome to Hemingway Elementary

Greetings, and welcome to Ernest Hemingway Elementary School. Our school is located in the beautiful Wood River Valley, just a mile from the
base of the world famous Sun Valley ski area in Ketchum, Idaho.
Hemingway Elementary is a K-5 school and
serves a student population of approximately 430 students. We also offer
preschool and day care operated by the YMCA in a building
adjacent to our campus. Our staff consists of a
professional learning community of 35 highly qualified teachers,
supported by 10 skilled paraprofessionals and a very active
community of parent volunteers.
Hemingway prides itself on providing a well-rounded education
to all students, while continuing to meet our annual yearly
progress goals for all demographic groups. In addition to
our outstanding academic programs, all of our students
participate in Art, Music, Physical Education, and Computers and
Technology training taught by specialists in those areas.
Our Special Services, Speech and Language, and Gifted and
Talented programs provide services for students with special
needs. We also offer our students the opportunity to
participate in Choir, Strings Orchestra, and a Ski program for
both Alpine and Nordic skiing.
Hemingway offers several unique opportunities, one of which
is our Dual Immersion program. This is a K-5 program that
students enter in Kindergarten. Classes are comprised of
half native English speakers and half native Spanish speakers.
Throughout their elementary years, they are taught the grade
level curriculum half the time in Spanish and half the time in
English. Hemingway also offers its own daily TV morning
news show which is produced by our fifth graders.
I hope you enjoy your tour of our school. At Ernest
Hemingway Elementary School, students live our motto: "We
show respect for ourselves and others."
Don Haisley Principal
"...best of all, he loved the fall.
