Architectural and Mechanical Design Professional Technical Education Program

The Architectural and Mechanical Design Professional Technical Education Program is a unique, two-year program designed to prepare college or career bound students for a variety of careers in the design field.

Architectural and Mechanical Design students get experience in working drawings, residential and commercial modeling, and mechanical design using geometric dimensioning and tolerance, solid modeling, and prototyping.

Who May Qualify?

A student interested in exploring the career opportunities in the field of architectural and mechanical design may qualify to enter if he or she:

  • Has an eye for detail.
  • Likes to apply themselves with hands-on learning.
  • Might be artistic or enjoys art.
  • Would like to apply their math to real world applications.

EngineersThis Professional Technical Education Program is designed for students interested in engineering, drafting, architectural design, interior design, landscape design, and building construction. Students accepted into the program are required to join SKILLS USA at a cost of $30.00 per year.  If you enjoy drawing, neatness, computers, and looking at floor plans in magazines, then this program is for you.

Course Description

This Professional Technical Education Program includes courses for students who are interested in the field of architectural and mechanical design. 

Benefits to our students include:

  • Articulate concepts in Architecture with courses in the Architecture Department at the University of Idaho.
  • Tech Prep articulated units with the Drafting Department at the College of Southern Idaho.
  • Internship offered with local employers.
  • Advanced engineering concepts that include rapid prototyping, modeling and silicone molding.
