What is this program?
This is a unique, one- or two-year program designed to prepare
college or career bound students for a variety of careers in the
health care field. Students will begin to learn about health
care and all the exciting opportunities available in this field. Guest speakers, field trips, and job shadowing will help to give
the student a well-rounded experience.
Who May Qualify?
A student interested in exploring the career opportunities in the field of medical technology may qualify to enter if he or she:
- Has a general interest in the health care field.
- Enjoys helping others.
- Joins Health Occupations Students of America at
a cost of $10.00.
Thisprogram is designed to introduce students to the fast-growing employment opportunities in hospitals, clinics and physical therapy.
Medical specialists are in demand in the United States and
around the world.
Course Description
Year one focuses on the core competencies, including an
introduction to the health care industry, career awareness and
exploration, wellness, ethics, CPR and first aid, anatomy and
physiology, growth and development, job skills, leadership and
safety.
Year two focuses on the core competencies and also includes
C.N.A. certification, medical terminology, and job shadowing.
