Welcome to Wood River Middle School
We are the Wolverines...

Welcome to our website for Wood River Middle School (WRMS).
Our website is maintained daily with up-to-date information and
great videos featuring our students partaking in exceptional
projects and learning opportunities. Here is some of the
big news about WRMS for 2011-2012.
- We are transitioning to
becoming an International
Baccalaureate - Middle Year's Program School.
This is an international organization that promotes
problem solving, interdisciplinary units,
project-based learning, technology in education,
international mindedness, and creativity
development. Please look on our IB link on our
WRMS home page for more information from our new IB
Coordinator.
|
- We are planning to research and develop a
semester schedule with a focus on allowing students
to have an IB Language class over the course of the
entire school year. This type of schedule will
align our calendar with Wood River High School, so
that we will have similar Parent/Teacher Conferences
and report card dates.
|
- Continued
development of timely and meaningful interventions:
Students who are struggling in a subject or multiple
subjects may receive a multitude of specialized
interventions to assist them with homework
completion to determining if they have learning
disability. Our goal is simple - we want
students to succeed and we want them to be ready for
high school.
|
- Credit system
for middle school students: We have a
new credit system in the middle school for students
with specific benchmarks to reach before the student
can be promoted to the next grade. Please see
the link on our homepage that describes the
parameters of our credit requirements and the
interventions we use to assist students in academic
trouble.

There are also a couple of PowerPoint presentations on our
homepage that have information on
21st Century
Skills and on the
State of our Schools in America; as well in Idaho
and Blaine County. You'll see some pretty remarkable
academic scores for WRMS and some amazing student discipline
data over the last 6-7 years. We have a very high
percentage of second language learners in our school compared to
other middle schools/junior highs, yet our achievement scores
are some of the highest in the state.
We are lucky in Blaine County to have the support of a community
that values education and the whole child. Our Arts,
Technology, Athletic, Counseling, Language, and Student Services
programs are very robust and well funded. Our facilities
are excellent with the District commitment through our levy to
upgrade the Middle School in our new strategic plan. We
are looking at security upgrades that are already in motion, and
also the addition of new rooms and facilities to take us into
the 2020's.
Professionally, you will find that my vision for WRMS is to be a
school with obvious boundaries and focus on academic achievement
and the safety of all students. I also see in our near
future, the full authorization as an IB-MY P
school that pushes students to new heights and 21st century
skills. Feel free to contact me if you have any concerns
or need any assistance, or contact me to talk about education
and our school if you are considering a move into the Wood River
Valley.
Personally, I am blessed to be working with such a great staff
and to have the honor of working with such beautiful young
people that attend our school. I always strive to fulfill
my personal life goal of being a positive influence in the lives
of others. Come by for a visit, you will be amazed at all
we do here for kids.
I encourage any parent or potential WRMS parent who needs
assistance or is interested in our school for their child's
future to contact me, Mr. Rob Ditch (our school
Vice-Principal), Tod Gunter (our Social Worker), or Holly Coiner and Stani Malmgren (our Counselors)if they need assistance or information.
Thanks to all of you for allowing me to serve this wonderful community.
Come visit our school – you will not be disappointed!
