Hammer Car Building Instructions

Hammer Car Programing (Get Flash Drive with program from Mr. Silvis)

Your goal is to modify the Hammer Car Design using parts from your NXT kit. You will compete in a demolition competition where you have 3 minutes to do as much damage as possible to a full size marshmallow. You are not allowed to physicaly touch your robot once your time begins. Competition will be judged by Mr. Silvis and prizes awarded to the top team.

File Management

All items in TECH must be saved to your student folder!

To access your student folder on a MAC:

  1. Click on the "STUDENTS" alias on the desktop
  2. Type in your USERNAME AND PASSWORD.
  3. Mount the WRMS.STUDENT.DATA volume.

To access your student folder on a DELL PC:

  1. Right click the "N" on the bottom right of the screen
  2. Click "NOVELL LOGIN"
  3. Type in your USERNAME AND PASSWORD
  4. Click OK

You should create a TECHNOLOGY folder if you do not already have one.

Courtyard Design

BACKGROUND:

Working in a team, you will develop a plan for the courtyard area for student use. You will develop architectual drawings on your plan for the couryard to be redesigned. You will also be developing a model for your courtyard design project. Upon completion you will be presenting your designs to Mr. Peters and Mr. Ditch.

STEPS FOR COMPLETION:

  1. Understand and apply principles from Google Sketchup to layout an area
    1. COMPLETE THE GOOGLE SKETCHUP ICON QUIZ Once you score 100% on the quiz, upload a .pdf of your quiz results to your wiki folder. 10 pts
    2. Complete the 5 introduction tutorials for Google Sketchup: 50 pts
      1. Introduction
      2. Start a drawing Part 1
      3. Start a drawing Part 2
      4. Start a drawing Part 3
      5. Colors and materials
  2. Measure and sketch a detailed, dimension sketch of the current courtyard
  3. Develop a Technical Drawing of the Current Courtyard
  4. Sketch 3 different ideas of your re-designed courtyard
  5. Develop a Technical Drawing of your re-desinged courtyard
  6. Develop a bill of materials for your courtyard design including labor
  7. Develop a model of your re-desinged courtyard
  8. Present your design to Mr. Peters

 

Midterm Grades

Midterm Grades will be based on the items that are in your wiki folder.
