Orghographics II - Show Silvis/Amato your 100% score
All items in TECH must be saved to your student folder!
To access your student folder on a MAC:
- Click on the "STUDENTS" alias on the desktop
- Type in your USERNAME AND PASSWORD.
- Mount the WRMS.STUDENT.DATA volume.
To access your student folder on a DELL PC:
- Right click the "N" on the bottom right of the screen
- Click "NOVELL LOGIN"
- Type in your USERNAME AND PASSWORD
- Click OK
You should create a TECHNOLOGY folder if you do not already have one.
Objective: Learn about DC Electric Motors by researching, dissecting a motor, and building a motor.
Directions:
- Go to the website: http://www.howstuffworks.com/motor.htm
- Read the information, there are 8 pages to read.
- When you are finished reading the pages, take the quiz at: http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/electric-motor-quiz.htm
- When you have 100%, print your results to pdf and post the results on your Wiki page.
Obtain a toy DC Motor from Mr. Amato and a sheet of card stock. - Take the motor apart, and use hotmelt glue to fasten each part of the motor to the card stock.
- Label each part of the motor. You can go back to the website if you need help identifying or spelling the part's name
Once you finish the quiz (with a 100% score), show Mr. Silvis or Mr. Amato so they can check you off

TECNOLOGY 800 - In this one-trimester course, students are engaged in a wide variety of hands on projects. This class offers more in depth and different projects from the 7th grade Technology class. Student projects range from giant trebuchets to VEX robotics, Computer Numerical Control machining, welding, and metal fabrication. The safe use of power tools is stressed throughout the curriculum.

ENGINEERING 801 - PREREQUISITE: A technology course - Students are engaged in the engineering design process in this one-trimester class. Alternative and Sustainable Energy are stressed throughout the curriculum. During the Spring trimester students can expect to work on the Sustainable Energy Vehicle (SEV). Student projects range from model structure design, to microprocessor programming to metal fabrication and welding.

PUBLICATIONS - The one-trimester “Pubs” class is in charge of publishing and laying out the schools yearbook and video yearbook. Students will take pictures and edit video for the school yearbook and school video yearbook. Students use the video studio, camcorders, digital cameras, and advanced digital non-linear editing systems to make videos and special effects. Students are introduced to both audio and visual technologies in this one-trimester course. Other topics include graphic design, digital music making, and production and distribution of the morning news. Students will have a minimum of 2 personal projects that they will be able to take home.

PUBLICATIONS EDITOR/DIRECTOR 803 - PREREQUISITE: Instructor Application - This is a multi trimester class -- A minimum of 1st and 2nd trimesters. Students will be in charge of either editing & layout of the yearbook and video yearbook OR they be in charge of producing and editing the morning news that is broadcasted throughout the school. A application is required to take this class. See Mr. Silvis to get an application!
