Slugging
1. Open WRMS-STUDENT.TECH/YEARBOOK/practice.slugging folder
2. Create a text document in WRMS-STUDENT.TECH/YEARBOOK/practice.slugging/alpha Call it yourname-slugging.txt
3. Copy and paste your document into WRMS-STUDENT.TECH/YEARBOOK/beta
4. Change the name of your file that is in WRMS-STUDENT.TECH/YEARBOOK/beta to your grade and your last name EXAMPLE: 7.silvis.jpg
5. Copy and paste your document into WRMS-STUDENT.TECH/YEARBOOK/practice.slugging/gamma
6. Change the name of your file in WRMS-STUDENT.TECH/YEARBOOK/practice.slugging/gamma to “finished.grade.youlastname” EXAMPLE: finished.7.silvis.jpg
. Copy ALL images from WRMS-STUDENT.TECH/YEARBOOK/practice.sugging/a-slugging-practice to your student folder.
2. Slug all pictures with a meaningful name!
Elements of Photography
- Review the Elements of Photography
- With a partner take 1 picture that represents each element of photography. Do not go outside of the tech classroom/lab to take these pictures. No PICTURES OF PEOPLE!
- Import photos into iPhoto
- Export photos to your STUDENT FOLDER
- Rename the photos to show the element that it represents (EX: rule-of-thirds.jpg)
- You should have 10 pictures when you are finished in your student folder!
Video Assignment #1
Background:
You will be working with a partner to develop a news program that will air on the Morning News. Topics must be national or global news and be school appropriate. Your job is to REPORT on the news, and not be biased or give your opinions. Get the facts across, and nothing more! Visit www.cnn.com for up to date news stories from around the world.
You will be filming your broadcast either in the tech lab during class, in the news studio during lunch, or after school on your own time. It is up to you and your partner to decide which option you would like to pursue.
Criteria:
- 30 seconds to 1 minute long
- Write a detailed script.
- Download images (B-Roll)
- Include A-Roll footage and B-Roll footage (pictures/images)
- Equal amounts of A-Roll and B-Roll footage
- Titles
- Credits
- Edited in iMovie

Grading will be based on the News Broadcast Rubric

- 200 pts for Full Length videos (100 pts/ video)
- 10 pts for Full length
- 10 pts for title & credits
- 25 pts for quality video
- 25 pts for audio editing
- 30 pts for using a tripod
- 200 pts for 30-second NEWS VIDEOS
- 10 pts for length 30 seconds
- 10 pts for title & credits
- 25 pts for quality video that shows the HIGHLIGHTS and all inportant informaiton.
- 25 pts for audio editing
- 30 pts for using a tripod
- 500 points for Yearbook Page(s)
