BA: University of Denver, Biological Science / Chemistry MS: University of Denver, Biological Science EdS: University of Idaho, Educational Administration and Leadership WRHS Room C203

Mr. Phillips

I earned a bachelor's degree in biology and chemistry from Denver University as well as a master’s degree in biology with emphasis on endocrinology and molecular biology. At DU, I was named the captain of the men’s soccer team and earned the scholar-athlete award three different years. I loved playing and traveling with the soccer team. It was a fun, challenging, and rewarding experience. My master’s thesis (based on my research) was written on the expression of ubiquitin in anuran tail tips. I was published in peer-reviewed journals.

In Denver, I taught at the University of Denver, did biological research, and worked as a petroleum chemist. I met my wife while teaching and coaching at a private prep school in Denver. We quit our jobs and put everything in storage to do the Peace Corps, which never happened, so we moved to the Wood River Valley to start a new life and family. I love the outdoors and enjoy hiking, biking, gardening, skiing, hunting, and fishing.

After moving to Idaho, I earned my Idaho teaching certificate from Lewis-Clark State College in 2005. I received my educational specialist degree in Administration and Leadership in 2012 from the University of Idaho.

I have grown to love the students in Blaine County and enjoy working with them. I also enjoy my colleagues at WRHS, where I have seen many changes over the last 20 years. I strive to be a catalyst to help students learn, grow, and love science.
