Reopening Our Schools: Information & Updates
As the Blaine County School District plans for the start of the 2020-21 school year, we are committed to keeping you informed. We are working hard to deliver a high-quality educational experience while protecting the health and safety of our students, staff and families.
The Board of Trustees voted Thursday, August 6 to start school on September 8 under our Hybrid Model, with half of our students in the classroom and half learning from home. Students in grades PreK to 12 will attend school in person two days a week and learn from home the other three days.
As we do so, we will implement physical distancing, enhanced cleaning protocols and other measures designed to minimize risks for the people in our school buildings.
BCSD administration is planning for three scenarios this school year:
- Scenario A - Reunited: All students attend school with safety precautions in place (e.g., face coverings, hand washing, physical distancing)
- Scenario B - Strict Social Distancing (Hybrid Model): Students attend school both in-person and virtually, using a staggered schedule: Last names A-L on Monday and Wednesday, M-Z on Tuesday and Thursdays*. Learning online the other three days.
- Scenario C - Online Learning: Students engage in 100% virtual learning.
The learning model we implement at any given time will depend on the status of COVID-19 in our state and region and guidance we receive from public health officials. We will continue to keep our families updated as we move forward.
*Families with children with different last names, will attend school on the days that correspond to the last name of the oldest child enrolled in BCSD so that all siblings are attending on the same days.
