Meet Mike Glenn - Silver Creek HS Principal
It is such a pleasure to serve the students and staff here at Silver Creek High School. As I start my sixth year at SCHS it is quite evident that Big Picture Learning is the right model for our students. This model of education requires dedicated and passionate staff that go way beyond the call of duty. We have such a staff. Students not only engage, but actually design their learning to fit their interests and passions.
I spent twenty one years teaching and coaching in the Meridian School District now known as the West Ada School District. I’ve taught and coached at Lake Hazel Junior High School, Centennial High School, and Eagle High School. I had the opportunity to move up to the Wood River Valley when a couple of old friends kept bugging me about moving up here. Finally, my family and I were ready for a major change. So, we packed up and came to the Wood River Valley to teach and coach at Wood River High School. After seven years at WRHS, the opportunity to come to Silver Creek presented itself. SCHS seemed like the perfect fit. This school has definitely been the hardest while at the same time most rewarding educational job I have ever had. Transitioning to Big Picture and changing from a traditional model to a competency-based model required a lot of work with a lot of uncertainty. However, the amazing staff at Silver Creek must be credited with that change in how education happens at Silver Creek. I love coming to school and working with that team and the talented students we have here at SCHS. I would not want to be anywhere else but here.
My wife Becky and I have been married for 35 years. We have five children; Sam, Nick , Zeb, Jade, and Petra. I enjoy fly fishing and camping with family.
