Mr. Michael Stemp
I was lucky to grow up in northern New York and spent my days skiing, swimming and climbing mountains! I went to college at the University of New Hampshire and earned a Masters Degree in education. When I graduated I moved to Idaho for the summer and never left. I started to work my way into the teaching profession as a summer camp counselor at Galena Lodge, Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation cross country ski coach, and Higher Ground summer camp counselor and as a para- professional at Hemingway Elementary. I learned that my passion was for helping students with unique learning profiles and began to pursue a career in special education. I worked for a local Developmental Disabilities Agency, supporting students in school, at home and in the community. I had the opportunity to work closely with staff and students at Wood River High School, Middle School, Bellevue Elementary and Hailey. I worked my way back into the school district as a para- professional in the BASE program. I finished my masters degree and in 2011 I accepted a special education teaching position in the Autism program at Woodside Elementary School. Since then I've been a case manager supporting students with Autism at Wood River Middle School and currently at Hailey Elementary.
