Ms. Pulleiro

My name is Ashlie Pulleiro and I teach 7th and 8th grade Spanish Dual Immersion at Wood River Middle School. I am a graduate of Wood River High School and I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a vocal emphasis from Brigham Young University-Idaho and a Master of Arts in Education, Language, Literacy, and Culture from Boise State University. I also have a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) certificate and discovered my passion for teaching language while living in Chile for 18 months when I was 19 years old. Since I was a young girl, I have loved traveling and embracing new cultures. When I was in 8th grade, I had the opportunity to attend school in Mexico for a semester and experience a different culture.

I received my World Language: Spanish (K-12) endorsement and teaching certification through CSI's Non-Traditional Teacher Preparation Program. I also completed my bilingual education endorsement through the REDO Project at Boise State University.

I love teaching languages because I am a strong believer that knowing another language allows you to experience life at a different level. A Czech proverb says, "You live a new life for every new language you speak. If you know only one language, you live only once." Because I am bilingual, I have been able to be a part of so many experiences that would not have crossed my path had I been monolingual. I want to instill in my students this same passion for learning Spanish and I also want to help them embrace other cultures and become globally aware. Apart from teaching, I enjoy singing, traveling, exercising, being outdoors, reading, and spending time with friends and family.
