BS: University of Idaho, Industrial Tech Education

Mr. Carlson

I am a graduate of the University of Idaho with a BS in Secondary Education, Advanced Occupational Specialist, Building Trades Construction, Vocational Industrial Technology and Industrial Technology. I have worked at Carey High School as the Technology and Construction Teacher since 1994. In 2005 we added the Residential Construction program. I have been instrumental in helping students build 5 homes, all of which have been sold to people in our community. During the summer months I enjoy farming and custom hay baling.

  • Residential Construction Academy students received a boost recently from Black Rhino Tools and the Wood River Valley Building Contractors Association.  The company provided new tools and winter jackets for the programs at Wood River and Carey High Schools.  All seniors who graduate from the Construction Academy will receive new tools and a tool belt.  Sue Woodyard, who helped coordinate the donation along with Ed Laswon and Jeff Smith, told the students, "These tools represent an investment in your future.  After graduation, whether obtaining a job or going on to higher training or education, you will be equipped with important lifetime skills in construction."

Black Rhino Tool company wants to invest in the Residential Construction Academy programs.  In a very generous offer, Black Rhino is offering to give anyone going on their website Black Rhino Home | Black Rhino Tools and placing an order, a 30% discount on all tool prices.  In addition, 10% of the sales costs will go back as credit to the Residential Construction Academy to use for future purchases.
