Mr. Newhouse

I have taught in four different states, and have worked at Wood River HS for the last four years. I graduated from University of Alaska Fairbanks with a BS in physical education. I spent the first ten years of my career teaching physical education and coaching basketball. At that point in my career, I decided I needed a more challenging fulfilling teaching assignment. I went back to school at Western Washington University, where I earned a special education teaching endorsement. I next moved to Michigan, where I taught high school special education for seven years. Being a life long product of the western United States, the call to comeback west was strong. My wife and I decided to look west, and we found the Wood River Valley. We packed up and moved to Ketchum in the spring of 2004. It took one year of subbing before I was hired as the Base room teacher at WRHS. I l enjoy teaching students with disabilities! Everyday is different, and it requires me to be creative and determined....two of my better qualities. I also have had the good fortune to coach both the boys and girls varsity basketball teams during my time in the valley. I am currently the boys coach......GO WOLVERINES!
