Elementary Project Based Learning
The Blaine County School District values the engagement of students in their learning. Project Based Learning (PBL) is an approach to learning that integrates various content and standards into a project that has a purposeful connection to students and our community. PBL learning captures and enhances relevance in learning. Students have a voice in what they learn and how they learn through various PBL units. The district has embarked on mapping elementary PBL units that integrate Science, Social Studies, Health, and Language Arts, with the option of integrating other such content as the Arts, Physical Education, Engineering, and Mathematics.
Two grade levels per year will collaboratively develop PBL Maps across the district and craft PBL Units unique to each grade level at each school. In 2017-18, K-1 teachers will launch their work for implementation in the fall of 2018.
