BCSD, City of Hailey Reach Agreement on School Resource Officers
HAILEY, ID — The Blaine County School District and the City of Hailey are pleased to announce that, after discussions that included Mayor Martha Burke, City Administrator Lisa Horowitz, Hailey City Chief of Police Steve England, Blaine County School District Superintendent Jim Foudy, and School Board Chair Keith Roark, agreement has been reached, in principle, for the deployment of school resources officers for the five district schools located within the Hailey City limits.
The agreement would lower the cost to the school district for school resource officer services and expand coverage, currently limited to Wood River High School, Silver Creek High School, and Wood River Middle School, to include Hailey and Alturas elementary schools. This agreement reflects the commitment of both the City of Hailey and the Blaine County School to providing a safe, secure learning environment for students and staff.
The school district is currently engaged in efforts to provide school resource officers to the three schools not located in the City of Hailey and hopes this new agreement will serve as a template in creating school security partnerships with the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office and the cities of Carey, Bellevue, and Ketchum.
