Blaine County School District Seeks Volunteers for School Board, Board Committees and Curriculum Committee
(Last call for volunteers for Finance, Wellness and Policy Committees)
The Board of Trustees is seeking volunteers to serve on three committees: Finance, Wellness and Policy. The Board of Trustees has tasked the 2018-19 Finance Committee with reviewing the Plant Facilities Levy next steps to include a review of upcoming projects which are impacted by these funds. The Board has also asked that the Finance Committee review District properties which are not currently being utilized for academic purposes.
The 2018-19 Policy Committee will continue to review and update existing and new District policies. This year, the Policy Committee will be focused on updating Board Governance policies as well as non-public student dual enrollment, recruitment of certified personnel, graduation requirements, and transportation policies.
The 2018-19 Wellness Committee will review the District's physical fitness programming to identify strengths and areas for improvement including a review of after-school physical fitness activities and programs. Additionally, the Board has tasked the Wellness Committee to review the District's suicide awareness and prevention efforts.

The Board of Trustees is currently accepting letters of interest for the trustee vacancy in Zone 1. Zone 1 includes areas south of Highway 20 and the Big Wood River, East of Highway 75 from the southern Blaine County line north to, and including Bellevue City limits and south of Muldoon Canyon Road, East to the County Line (includes Bellevue Triangle, Picabo, Carey and Yale).
Applicants living within the Zone 1 boundary should submit a letter of interest to the Clerk of the Board, Amanda LaChance at the Blaine County School District office, 118 W. Bullion, Hailey or email amandalachance@blaineschools.o
Eligible applicants will be interviewed by the Board of Trustees in a public meeting on Monday, September 17 at 6:00 p.m. at the Minnie Moore Room, Community Campus where the Trustees will vote to appoint applicants. The term will expire in January, 2020.
Residents of the Blaine County School District community are encouraged to apply to participate in the Instructional Materials Adoption Process for English Language Arts. This is a two-year commitment. Two residents of the district will be selected to serve on this committee. Applicants should go to www.blaineschools.org and District Announcements at the bottom of the website to read more about the Curriculum Committee and fill out the form. The deadline is has been changed to Friday, September 21.
