Computer Science Education Week

Student working on coding Hemingway STEAM students had the opportunity to take part in the Hour of Code activities during Computer Science Education Week. Code.org provides age appropriate activities for all students with varied levels of difficulty. Why coding? Coding is not just about writing lines of code. Coding inspires creativity and problem solving. Students learn teamwork and are encouraged to work cooperatively: “Ask three before you ask me!” Students learn that through perseverance and not giving up, that they can do a thing, even if they thought they could not. They develop a growth mindset and a can-do attitude. Computer Science provides many well-paying jobs now and will continue to so into the future. It's clear that learning about coding can Inspire, Engage, Educate, and Empower our students! Enjoy these photos.
