Thomas Alexander

Tom has been a man of service his entire life...to his country serving in the military on a submarine, to his family, to his church, as a firefighter, and to the Blaine County School District. He has diligently provided safe and comfortable facilities for thousands of children and staff by maintaining hundreds of mechanical plants over the past 14 years. He will truly be missed.

In my short time with Susan during the last two years, I truly understand what it looks like to advocate for students. Her compassion and care are always at the forefront of everything she does. It doesn’t hurt that she also carries a great sense of humor that makes you think. She will be missed by all.

Kim Laragan-Uranga
Wood River Middle School
Special Ed Teacher
1987-1989 & 1996-2017, 23 years
To understand Kim’s work is to see how her life skills students flourished and blossomed at our school and in the community in multiple vocational settings. As an advocate for students with disabilities, Kim made sure her students were visible and active in the heart of our school on a daily basis. Many of her students grew to rock star status as they learned about life, themselves and how the world can be so inviting.

Cornelia Lewis
Bellevue Elementary
Speech Language Pathologist
2010-2017, 7 years
Cornelia has been a huge part of the BCSD family for many years serving students throughout our south valley schools as one of our licensed speech pathologists. Cornelia’s philosophy of preintervention is one to be emulated. It is because of her efforts to catch students early that many of our young students were able to succeed much quicker in their educational careers; her cheerful smile and spirit will be missed by students, families, and staff alike.

Donna McKelvey
Wood River Middle School
English/Language Arts Teacher
2006-2017, 11 years
Donna works in an inspiring and thoughtful grade level team. She has contributed many great ideas for their constant themes for PBL’s. Sadly, during these last few weeks of her career in Blaine County, Donna can’t drive home to Mackay over Trail Creek Pass because of the horrible road conditions. She is so dedicated and dependable that she even survived hitting two Elk on her way to work one day but still came to work to continue to engage and push students to better academic outcomes.
