Students Learn Dangers of Vaping
Wood River Middle School students learned about the dangers of vaping at a school assembly on Wednesday, May 9. Vaping is the use of e-cigarettes, which often look like small lipstick cases or thumb drives. The substances used in the e-cigarettes sometimes look and smell like candy or fruit flavors. One popular brand is called Juul. Tobacco possession is not allowed on school grounds by either adults or students.
The Blaine County Drug Coalition, with support from the WRMS PTA and WRMS teacher Yesenia Guevara, will hold a meeting on Monday, May 14 at 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the Minnie Moore Room, Community Campus to offer further education on the dangers of vaping. Wood River High School’s School Resource Officer, Shawna Wallace, will be presenting and will have a display of different types of e-cigarettes and oils. Childcare will be provided by the Drug Coalition and the meeting is free and open to the public. Parents are encouraged to attend.
