Volleyball Team Recognized for Sportsmanship
The Carey girls volleyball team was recognized by the Idaho High School Activities Association for winning the 2018 State 1A DII Volleyball Sportsmanship Award.
Assistant Director, Mike Federico wrote, “Sportsmanship is a top priority of the IHSAA, the ideals of sportsmanship permeate virtually every aspect of our culture, and the ethics of fair play may be witnessed in all facets of life. The origins of sportsmanship have been firmly established in education-based activities as a training ground for good citizenship and high behavioral standards.” Federico went on to write, “At this year’s tournament, an independent committee judge all of the tournament’s coaches, participants, administrators and spectators including parents and other representatives. Each school was evaluated on important behaviors that are guiding principles of sportsmanship and citizenship, and Carey High School was a true example of a positive school culture and a community with pride. We would like to recognize Lee Jay Cook and John Peck as positive role models at Carey High School. Their leadership was evident in the behavior of your coaches, players, school representatives and spectators at this year’s tournament.”
Congratulations to the Carey players, coaches, administrators, parents and fans!
