Being Prepared for Snow Sport Week
Next week begins our snow sport week!! January 27th, 28th and 31st. Ski patrol visited with students this morning going over how to stay safe while on the mountain. Watch for signs and stay in designated areas.
Here are a few organizational tips that will help everyone have a great time.
-
If you are skiing or snowboarding, please wear warm socks, warm gloves, snow pants, goggles, and a neck gaiter. If you are skating, please bring the same except you must also have a helmet.
-
Bring your skis/snowboards and equipment to school on Thursday, January 27.
- All students will need to pack a lunch, snack, and drink. You will be hungry, so make sure you pack healthy food to include snacks.Baldy skiers will carry their lunch with them and Dollar kids will bring their backpack to the mountain. Students getting lunches from the cafeteria need to let the teacher know the day before so they can be ordered. The sack lunch will be picked up each morning.

Nordic Ready:
Let's be Nordic "Ready" and bring proper gear. People typically get warm from the aerobic exercise of Nordic skiing, so dress in layers. If you get too warm, you can take off your coat to a lighter coat/sweater. Bring gloves, hat, neck/scarf, sunglasses (not goggles because they fog up). Helmets are not needed.Bring lunch and extra snacks if you want. We do not order food from the lodge and we sit outside on the deck to eat, so bring a warm coat.Students and parents (if they are volunteering) rent gear for free at the Nordic center.Ice Skating Ready:Day 1: Thurs., Jan 27th: Sun Valley Outdoor Ice Rink
Day 2: Fri., Jan. 28th: Hailey Ice House
Day 3: Mon., Jan. 31st: Hailey Ice House
What to Bring:
- Helmet – Helmets are required. Please bring a ski or bike helmet for head protection. Sun Valley Ice Rink has additional helmets, if you need to borrow one.
- LONG socks that fit well. Short and/or loose socks often cause blisters near the top of the skates or ankles.
- Dress in layers. Snow pants provide a layer of warmth and protection.
- Gloves – Waterproof/ski gloves work best.
- Lunch for Day 1: Please bring a sack lunch. You are welcome to order a sack lunch from the school, if needed.
- Lunch for Days 2 & 3: Option to bring a sack lunch or order hot lunch at school, since we’ll return for lunch when attending Hailey Ice.
- Backpack – Please bring your backpack to store your lunch and additional items that you may need during the day. ***Cell phones should remain in backpacks during school hours. Thank you!
Parents please make sure your children are prepared and have what they need each day. Make sure if item is wet that they get dried before the next day of skiing.
This is a special opportunity for everyone to enjoy what our valley has to offer. We need to show our appreciation to all the people who have worked hard to make this happen.
