Experiencing Paralympics

Creating art with our toes. Workers from Higher Ground and students from the Sage school came to our school to teach HES 5th grade students about how people with disabilities have to do things differently.  We did different activities from the Paralympics. Creating art with our feet, playing volleyball sitting down and doing a blind scavenger hunt. Students enjoyed learning by walking a mile in someone else's shoes.

I liked the blind scavenger hunt, because your got to know what it was like for a blind man or woman. - Grayson
I learned that Muffy Davis won 3 gold medals for competing in the hand cycle. - Seth
My favorite activity was sitting volleyball, because it was fun and showed us how the athletes competed without the use of their legs. - Kimora
