World Language Students Apply Their Skills
World Language students are honing their writing and speaking skills with a real-world project this year. Wood River Middle School students in Samantha Mora's Spanish 4-5 visited the headquarters of KDPI, Ketchum’s community-sponsored radio station, housed in the Ketchum Innovation Center. Students toured the station, learned about the Federal Communications Commission’s rules for underwriting text, and recorded bilingual public service announcements that will be aired on KDPI. This was the start of a year-long collaboration with KDPI. In the future, students will design and produce live bilingual radio shows, including interviews with Spanish-speaking community members. The collaboration is also part of Wow-Students with donations from Wow going toward KDPI.
