401 Spotlight - Zac
Zac McStay has been a Silver Creek Dragon since the beginning of his sophomore year. Zac is highly intelligent with a diverse set of interests and talents. Video gaming, snowboarding, skateboarding, basketball, computers and shooting are just some of Zac’s passions. He has been a prolific writer throughout his high school journey and is currently working on a fictional piece called Frost. Zac possesses a creative mind and a sense of curiosity that allows him to learn a great deal in a short period of time. This explains why he has had the most diverse set of internships of any student at our school. Zac did biology and conservation work at the Silver Creek Nature Conservancy his sophomore year. His mentor, Sunny Healey, had him measuring water temperatures, rates of discharge and collected data relevant to the sustainability of the preserve. During his junior year, Zac built a guitar with the mentoring help of Bozo Cardozo, owner of Rainy Day Guitarworks. It is a beautiful piece of art with reclaimed wood from the Mint. During his senior year, Zac did computer software and hardware work for Kyle Basinger at Animal Shelter of the Wood River Valley and Jeanne Liston at the Hunger Coalition. He is currently learning to play the guitar independently, investigating several post-secondary options and putting together a Facebook page that will be a platform for himself and the rest of the amazing SCHS class of 2017 to remain in contact and celebrate all of their successes moving forward.
