EVERYONE COUNTS: FIND OUT ABOUT THE US CENSUS
The United States Census matters to Blaine County and has an impact on our daily lives - the roads we drive on, access to health care, school lunch programs, even our political representation.
Once every decade, the federal government conducts a census of the entire population to count everyone in the United States and record basic information about them.
Our nation’s founders believed these data were so important that they mandated the decennial census in the Constitution.
For the first time ever, starting March 13, 2020, the U.S. Census Bureau will accept responses online and by phone, but you can still respond by mail if you prefer.
Important Dates:
March 12 - 20: Households received official census bureau mail with detailed information on how to respond to the 2020 Census.
April 1: Census Day was observed nationwide, and every home will have received an invitation to participate in the 2020 Census. When you respond, you will tell the U.S. Census Bureau where you live, as well as who you live with, as of April 1.
May - July: Census takers will begin visiting homes that have not responded to the 2020 Census to help make sure everyone is counted.
If you complete your census form early, census takers will not need to visit your home.
