The Wood River High School drama department traveled to Pocatello on Saturday to compete in the ISU One-Act Drama competition. Update on 5/3/17 from Karl Nordstrom:
The WRHS Drama Department would like to thank each and every teacher that brought his or her class to the WRHS Performing Arts Theater last Friday during 7th hour to see Macbeth. It was a huge shot in the arm for the student actors, who worked really hard to get ready for an audience.
The performance concluded the 3rd annual WRHS One-Act Drama festival attended by WR Middle School, Shoshone High School, Magic Valley High School from Twin Falls, and Blackfoot High school.
Overall, Annabelle Lewis, Taylor Telford, and Hadley Cabitto were chosen as members of the all star cast and Alma Ceja was voted by the other coaches as overall best actress.
From the middle school, Sierra Olson and Ramsey Marquis were also selected by coaches as part of the all star cast.
This production concluded our 2016-2017 season, but we are still busy organizing for the summer and selecting material for next year.
It is bitter sweet for me, as I am saying goodbye to some seniors who have been with me for 3 years and one in particular, Alma Ceja, who really helped put Wood River on the District IV competition map. Jose Aguayo, Michael Todd, Hadley Cabitto and Esther Chavolla are also seniors. I hate to see them go, but I know it is time for them to move on.
Thank you all for your wonderful support this season. I do believe the combination of Front, Singin' in the Rain and Macbeth has been the finest season as a whole in my years here at Wood River. Those of you who have attended any of these productions are a huge part of that.
