During the Board of Trustees negotiations with the Blaine County Education Association, the negotiations team voted to give teachers two full days during Thanksgiving that were originally scheduled to be professional development days. The Board of Trustees then had to find two additional days in the school calendar, which impacted the date of graduation at all three high schools in Blaine County. Wood River High School was given the choice between Thursday, June 7 and Friday June 8.
After seeking input from parents, staff and students, the school selected Thursday, June 7 for graduation. About 50 parents provided input on the date and their feedback was split between the two dates. Students were also surveyed with over 70% selecting Thursday. Several teacher interviews also supported June 7 as the best date. Principal John Pearce stated, “Students overwhelmingly wanted to graduate on Thursday, June 7.” Wood River High School will make every effort to support a safe and sober graduation on Thursday, June 7, 2018. The school piloted a live webcast of graduation last year and expects to do the same again this year. Congratulations to the class of 2018!
