Welcome to New Supervisor of Student Safety
The Blaine County School District welcomes Dave Stellers as the new Supervisor of Student Safety. Stellers retired as the Assistant Police Chief for the City of Hailey after serving for 28 years in law enforcement. His experience included serving the City of San Diego Police Department prior to joining the City of Hailey Police Department in 1993.
Superintendent Dr. GwenCarol Holmes stated, “Student safety is our highest priority and is critical to student learning. This position is essential to the district’s ability to identify areas of improvement for student and staff safety and ensure those improvements occur across the district consistently. We have waited to find the right person for this job and we are thrilled that Dave Stellers will be joining our team.”
Stellers stated, “Students and staff have an expectation to go to school and work in a place that’s safe and I can help the district accomplish that. Parents want to send their students to schools and facilities that are safe to learn in and I look forward to working with staff, parents, students and community groups to create a culture of safety in our schools.”
Stellers will work part-time and his duties will include helping schools improve their emergency plans including drills and training as well as coordination with other emergency responders. In addition, he will support pre-expulsion and expulsion hearings for students. He will work collaboratively with all staff, including the two School Resource Officers located at Wood River High School and Wood River Middle School.
