Engineers Challenge Students
Students at Wood River Middle School experienced real-world learning when engineers from Power Engineers came to their classroom with the ultimate challenge: build the tallest lattice tower with straws using only the straws provided and one foot of masking tape. The tower had to support the weight of a golf ball.
Students quickly learned how to think like engineers as they considered various structures and solutions for their towers.
Kate Wutz from Power Engineers stated, "Thanks to Kat, Jaclyn, Will, Jeremy, Clay, John, Buck, and Jason, as well as to Jeremy Silvis, Angela Barbre and Blaine County School District #61 for letting us interrupt your regularly scheduled programming!"
