Students Build Food Computer
Hemingway Elementary students in Lydia Flynn’s 4th grade Dual Immersion class were inspired by Caleb Harper’s TED Talk on Food Computers. The entire class wrote grants and raised funds to build two food computers, which can be programmed to grow food in a climate-controlled environment. Students in Kevin Lupton’s engineering classes at Wood River High School are assisting the 4th grade students as they learn how to assemble the food computers. One food computer will be located at Hemingway Elementary and one will be located at Wood River High School The collaboration among grade levels, schools, and content areas will continue through the next few years.
