Recognizing Excellence: Alli Burns & Ernesto Ramirez
The BCSD Board of Trustees is thrilled to recognize Wood River High School School Nurse Alli Burns and Latino Liaison Ernesto Ramirez!
The following accolade was submitted by WRHS English Language Development Specialist Devan Hoehn:
I am grateful to work alongside Ms. Alli Burns and Mr. Ernesto Ramirez daily at Wood River High School. They both work hard to ensure our school is a safe and healthy place for all students.
Recently, WRHS has gotten an influx of students from different countries. Since every country has its own vaccination protocol, Nurse Burns and Mr. Ramirez tracked down all vaccination records from our new students, only to find out that many students required vaccinations to meet Idaho vaccination requirements.
Instead of encouraging students to go to the doctor to get vaccinations, Nurse Burns decided it was easier for students to get vaccinations here at Wood River High School clinic. She worked with South Central Public Health to bring the vaccinations needed to the students. She set up the date and time, and Ernesto communicated with all parents to make sure they knew what vaccinations their kids needed, the risks, and the benefits. They both passed out forms and got every student every vaccination they needed...some students needed one, and others needed six, to comply with the Idaho law.
Overall, this clinic vaccinated over 30 students, making our school a safer and healthier place. Thank you, Nurse Alli and Mr. Ramirez, for your hard work supporting our students and parents. I am so glad you are part of my team!
