Recognizing Excellence: Becky Tinsley

The BCSD Board of Trustees is thrilled to recognize Becky Tinsley, social worker at Carey School.

The following accolade was submitted by Lacee Peterson on behalf of Carey School:

Carey School would like to recognize Becky Tinsley as our social worker this year!

In general observation, Becky is always found in the most dynamic and interactive activities at school—visiting with kids on the playground, joining in natural conversations in the lunchroom, and stopping to greet students as they pass in the hallways. She utilizes the most authentic situations for relationship building, which allows for fostering familiarity and trust for when she teaches social- and emotional-based resiliency lessons in our individual classrooms.

Becky’s specialized craft is built on experience from a lengthy career and enhanced with her staying abreast of current resources and practices that are available to serve our student population. Each of her weekly instructional sessions at the various grade levels are the most up to date available, and as such, capture the attention of students and achieve remarkable results. The resources she employs feel fresh and evolved, bringing about such positive outcomes in our students' abilities to cope with the various pressures in their lives.

With an allocation of 2.5 days a week at our site, Becky hits the ground running. She starts working before the school day has officially begun. She is intrinsically driven to provide the greatest volume of service that is possible, always pitching in where she can offer support and service. Our students trust her individually and enjoy the time she spends in their company. As a result, she has achieved great success in our school.

It is with gratitude that we recognize the outstanding and tireless work that she performs at Carey School.
