Recognizing Excellence: Denice Nava
The BCSD Board of Trustees is thrilled to recognize Alturas Elementary kindergarten class volunteer Denice Nava!
The following accolade was submitted by Deborah Van Law, a kindergarten teacher at Alturas Elementary School:
Denice is an Alturas Elementary parent. Although her youngest child will be a 5th grader next year, she chose to be a full-time volunteer in my kindergarten classroom last year. She could have done anything with her time but chose to spend each day greeting our little ones with her positive energy and megawatt smile.
Denice supported our students at centers, zipped their jackets, tied their shoes, and helped them locate lost items. She read to them and provided them with one-on-one help to improve their skills.
Our kindies flourished this year, due in no small part to her extra support. The influence of a caring adult can never be erased. Thank you so much for your care and kindness, Denice!
