Recognizing Excellence: Carla Scanlon

The BCSD Board of Trustees is thrilled to recognize Carey School Librarian Carla Scanlon!
The following accolade was submitted by Lindee Williams.
"I would like to recognize our school librarian, Carla Scanlon, for her tireless work. Being a librarian for a K-12 school is not for the weak of heart, and Carla rises above that challenge. I have yet to see her take a break, and it seems she is always on the move.
Behind the scenes, she is connecting with our students and their families. She takes many of our students under her protective wing and doesn’t just make sure they have books, but that they are being served in other areas, too. She is writing grants and raising money to supplement an ever-shrinking library budget. In junior high and high school, she does everything from helping our students write and refine scholarship essays, helping them prepare for job interviews, or just checking in with students who need that extra attention.
I am personally so grateful for the way she has encouraged my children to identify as readers. It truly takes a village, and we are so lucky to have Carla as part of our Carey village!"
