Recognizing Excellence: Dylan Carey & the WRHS Blaine County Bots Team

The BCSD Board of Trustees is delighted to acknowledge Dylan Carey and the Wood River High School Blaine County Bots Team.

The following accolade was submitted by Engineering Technology Teacher Caroline Grist:

Blaine County Bots recently held their VEX League Finals for the 8th-12th grade teams. When my Hailey Elementary School (HES) team arrived, they were really unsure about how to interact with the entire situation. Dylan Carey's WRHS Robotics Team was so welcoming! They answered questions, shared their robots, and listened patiently to the younger students. Not to mention their patience with the field resetting!

For a couple of my students, those interactions quite possibly changed their lives. Students don't often have the opportunity to build connections across such a wide age range. The high schoolers helped facilitate those connections, giving the elementary students a glimpse into their future. That experience will give them an anchor as they get older and try to figure out who they are and where they belong.

So thank you to Dylan and the WRHS Blaine County Bots Robotics Team for connecting with the HES Robotics Team. You might have just been there to compete with robots and work with your own team members, but because of your kindness and inclusivity, there's a new group of Robotics kids with bigger dreams and new perspective on their future capabilities.
