The BCSD Board of Trustees is excited to acknowledge Wood River High School Librarian Kari Haugen and Wood River High School Registrar Janell Porter!

The following accolade was submitted by Wood River High School Principal Julia Grafft and Stephanie Carlson:

On behalf of the technology department and WRHS, we would like to recognize Janell Porter, WRHS registrar, and Kari Haugen, WRHS librarian, for their outstanding dedication and support.

Janell and Kari have gone above and beyond their roles by stepping up to provide invaluable assistance with PowerSchool and Schoology. Their willingness to help extends beyond WRHS, as they offer guidance to staff across multiple schools and departments—including technology.

Kari provides specific support in gradebook setup, troubleshoots challenges when PowerSchool and Schoology do not sync, and works closely with teachers to help them set up their online classes in Schoology. Her expertise as a former teacher and now librarian extends to all BCSD staff. She is always willing to help—so much so that her phone rings off the hook anytime grades are due!

Janell provides critical support in understanding PowerSchool’s capabilities. She figures out how to pull reports, diligently searches for answers, and ensures that records are complete and accurate. In addition to her work at WRHS, she has supported the district technology department by informally serving as a district registrar, helping staff at other schools learn the intricacies of PowerSchool.

Their initiative and commitment to improving processes for both students and staff are truly commendable. Not only do they take the time to assist others, but they have also created training materials that are now used district-wide. Their work demonstrates a genuine passion for education, and their impact is felt well beyond their assigned duties. We are incredibly grateful for their dedication.
